Baby and Toddler Forest School
Our babies and toddlers are introduced to forest school from a young age. Our babies take the opportunity to go out to the village in their triple push chairs and explore the surroundings. They stop when items interest them and base activities through sensory exploration. Babies often take natural items back to the nursery to explore in the sensory tray or to paint with.
Our toddlers explore the outside garden environment first and participate in the pretend fire circle. We place a red mat down to symbolize the fire and encourage children to walk around the circle with a teddy; the children pass the teddy and all have a go at walking around the ‘fire’.
After snack time the children go into the village; we use the village center as a base but also explore village surroundings. The children follow a similar theme to the pre-school children; which ranges from den building to mini beast hunting. They also have plenty of time for free play. The toddler forest school lasts between one and two hours; depending on the age and stage of the children.
